05.13.2004 tiger army show.
i am obsessed with the film cecil b. demented. i forgot how much i love it. "demented for-ever!" in more interesting news, my bathroom REEKS of cigarette smoke. my clothing has to be quarantined somewhere, you know. my ears are ringing and i can't hear anything. "what? yell louder, yeah, right in my ear!" but it was all worth it, for i, miss brenna marie, saw tiger army for the dos time tonight. can i get a thumbs up or what.
so evan posts in his el jay that he is going to tiger army! and i remembered the show. i call him with "can i get a ride?" in that usual lame way i always do. alex and he agreed to scoop me up for the ride. i did this weird beehive thing with my hair that you can't really tell because these photos are screaming "cam whore!" but you get the idea.
so we get to the venue in downtown orlando, and there's a line and a sweet little sign that says "sorry, this show is sold out." rat bastards! luckily they had a couple tickets left, so i snagged the second to last one. how is it that i am always so lucky? remember the social distortion show? that was another sold out show, and guess who scored not one, but TWO extra tickets? your lovely web missy! "i am so cool i have airvents on my desk." you can quote me on that one. but not at a rocky show.
anyway, i see punk rock skin oi boy jared and say hello. that kid is at every show i go to. he's damn goofy but sweet, and always asks if i'm still dating matthew. i spy wolfy, little amy, shane and mikey (all those crazy merritt island kids), and the first thing wolfy says is "where's matty?" damn my unpopularity! i'll never be the one people actually want to see!
oh yeah, so on to the show. the show itself was called the "punk vs. psychos[billy] tour." first up was a band called, "12 step rebels", a psycho three piece. their singer had a floppy, wispy green psychohawk that looked like cotton candy. he was as skinny as a string bean and had painted-on jeans (aaand... that rhymed).
the next band was a punk band: the disasters. they were actually quite good! better than 12 step rebels. after them came an oi! band: the business. i actually knew a couple of their songs from hellcat record compilations. there was definately a skinhead crowd there tonight, i had never seen so many. i guess they come out of the woodwork when an oi! band is in town. the business was really good, their singer was a trip. he had a tattoo that said "relentless". just like those racoons in matt's yard.
finally, when i was about to die from the cigarette smoke, tiger army takes the stage (and saves me from the nazis)! they played everyone's favorites, "when the night comes down", "cupid's victim", "valley of dreams", and of course, they saved "never die" for last. this was, in fact, their first florida club show! they haven't played in florida 'cept a few years ago at warped tour. saw them then, too. i also saw this really pretty girl there, and she was with the prettiest boy there. typical. i was jealous.
so that was a $13 well spent if there was ever a $13 spent! a great night out with great people, it was really a lot of fun. i loved how every time a note was slapped on the upright bass it hit your chest. it was LOUD and SMOKEY and HOT and it reminded me of how shows used to be before i moved to orlando and got all hoitey toitey with the house of blues and such. crowded venues and too much cigarette smoke, so much that you reek for days and are finding tar coming out of your eyes. your feet ache from wearing your boots and dancing and "regulating" the edge of the circle pit. matty wasn't there to regulate, but i did just fine; shane took care of me and little amy. my hair's getting longer, it's suprising sometimes how long it is. just six more inches and i'll be happy again.
tomorrow? NEKROMANTIX at will's pub. so: tonight was tiger army, tomorrow is nekromantix, friday i'm in rocky, and saturday i'm in rocky again. what a week! i love my friends. i don't get to see alex and evan enough and i miss them both terribly. hopefully alex will have a band practice soon so we can work on stuff then.
i have a frankenstein computer. the monitor is from a garage sale, the cpu is from a college boy, and the mouse and keyboard are walmart special. all in all it's a $120 windows machine. i like doing my updates on windows machines. reminds me of the good ol' days of grrlstar.net
